Amie N. Bensouda

Amie N. D. Bensouda founded Amie Bensouda & Co LP in the Gambia in 1995. Prior to private practice she worked for the Government of The Gambia for Fourteen years and was Solicitor General of The Gambia for 5 years (1990-1995) and also acted as Minister of Justice and Attorney General. As Solicitor General, she had overall responsibility for departments under the Ministry including the registration of Intellectual Property. She was respectively Legal Draftsperson; Chief Parliamentary Counsel and Counsel for the privatization of State owned Enterprises & Reform of Parastatals.

Ms. Bensouda’s professional areas of expertise include Litigation, Corporate & Commercial Law, Banking and Finance, Property, Public Policy and Regulation, Intellectual Property, Human Rights, and Dispute Resolution. She advises Local, Regional and international financial and corporate institutions including Government Agencies and parastatals on regulatory matters, international transactions and financial arrangements.

Ms. Bensouda was the President of the Gambia Bar Association for two consecutive terms. She serves on the Boards of various public and private institutions and is a part-time lecturer at the Gambia Law School.


Anna Njie

Anna Njie is a qualified barrister whose practice areas include Litigation, Estate Administration, Labour & Immigration, Family Law, Real Estate & Conveyance, and Intellectual Property law. She obtained her LLB Honours Degree from University of London, England and BA in Banking Economics and Law at the London qualification at the Sierra Leone Law School, Freetown Sierra Leone. She was admitted to both the Bars of Sierra Leone and The Gambia in 2009.

She leads the litigation and disputes team at the firm and has successfully handled several high-profile cases and complex intellectual property matters. She is also the head of litigation matters at the Female Lawyer's Association of The Gambia.


Abdul Aziz Bensouda

Abdu Aziz Bensouda is a qualified Barrister and specializes in corporate and commercial law, telecommunications law, policy and regulation, competition law and policy, banking & finance, real estate, and Intellectual Property law. He assists and advises in finance and investment matters and commcercial acquisitions and sales.

Mr. Bensouda obtained an LLB honours degree from the University of Hull, England. He proceeded to a LLM Masters degree in International Economic Law from the University of Warwick, England. He attended Bar School at BPP College of Professional Studies and was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales in July 2008 and thereafter to the Gambian Bar in that same year. He counsels clients both local and overseas on establishment, protection, and enforcement of existing and impending intellectual rights and capital, conducts IP due diligence, negotiates infringement and opposition settlements, and acts as legal representative in cases of infringement. He handles IP matters in The Gambia, Sierra Leone and Liberia.


Sirrah Jah

Sirrah Jah is an Intellectual Property Expert. She advises on various intellectual property matters including trademark, patent, and industrial design registration requirements, implementation of new rules and regulations for protection and enforcement of IP laws, issues of infringement, application filing, requests for extensions, oppositions and counterstatements, cease and desist action, licensing agreements, and legal opinions.

Ms. Jah obtained an LLB Honours degree from the University of Kingston in 2012. She proceeded to complete a LLM Masters Degree in International Commercial Law with an emphasis in Intellectual Property Law at the University of Reading in the year 2014.

She assists clients in IP matters in The Gambia, Sierra Leone and Liberia.


Grace Mbye Secka

Grace Mbye Secka is an Intellectual Property professional in The Gambia Office. Grace handles all trademark prosecutions, patent, and design applications. She also serves as the intermediary between IP rights holders and the registry, transacting all IP related issues regarding, renewals, assignments, searches, application amendments and corrections, and publication, onwards for resolution.

Grace has attended various IP specialized training workshops locally and internationally, including the Regional Workshop on Human Resources Development of patent and trademark Agents, and the National Roving Seminar on Making Better Use of Intellectual Property for Business Competitiveness and Development in Africa, by ARIPO.
